A pizza in a fancy restaurant? Sure, why not. At Meritage, where illuminated wine cabinets frame the room and modern art hangs on the walls, you can order a pie alongside a $300 cabernet. This is not your corner pizza stop, it’s wood-fired pizza served in a place where baked potato pizza somehow shares menu space with fig jam and arugula.
The pie itself is razor-thin and wood-fired, carrying the flavors that only a high-temperature oven can deliver. When you land a bite with sauce, it’s magic—a perfect harmony of char, cheese, and tangy tomato that reminds you why wood-fired ovens are revered. But those bites are rare. The sauce hides beneath the cheese like it’s playing hard to get, leaving most bites a little too heavy on cheese and char. Pro tip: sauce on top would take this pizza from good to exceptional.
Meritage doesn’t just rely on its kitchen—it’s also about the service. Isaiah works the room with warmth and ease, turning what could be a stiff atmosphere into a relaxed, welcoming experience.
I didn’t expect to like Meritage—it seemed too polished, too steakhouse for my pizza-focused taste. But between the excellent service, quality food, and inviting vibe, it ended up being a big win.
The Meritage with 1/2 price apps before 5 (the fig pizza is a staple), is a regular visit with my girls! Always delicious.
